New Cancer Prevention and Control Central Institutional Review Board Established
Posted: January 15, 2015
The NCI Central Institutional Review Board (CIRB) Initiative announced the establishment of the Cancer Prevention and Control (CPC) CIRB January 14, extending the benefits of centralized review to investigators participating in clinical trials sponsored by the Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP).
The CPC CIRB will review studies developed by the NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) and the Consortia for Early Phase Trials Program. The CPC CIRB is the fourth board launched by the CIRB Initiative. The Initiative works to reduce the administrative burden on local IRBs and investigators while continuing a high level of protection for human research participants, and enabling faster participant enrollment in studies than traditional IRB review.
